Batam International Culture Carnival 2018 : Cultural Festival and Birthday of Batam City
Batam Promotion, The Batam or BP Batam Concession Agency will again hold an international-scale cultural festival entitled Batam International Culture Carnival 2018 on December 8-9 2018. The event is planned to be held on Jalan Imam Bonjol, Nagoya. This festival is part of the 189th anniversary of Batam Anniversary.
BP Batam Deputy for Public Services, Bambang Purwanto said that this international event was intended as a routine agenda to be held every year. Not just celebrating Batam’s birthday, but in the hope that Batam can be known more widely by countries in the world. So that it can attract foreign tourists visiting Batam. “There will be Malay cultural arts and cultural islands, with this activity we certainly hope to preserve Indonesian culture in this country,” Bambang said.
Not only will special arts and culture be enlivened, it will also present a typical culinary tour of the archipelago. Culinary diversity will be presented so that foreign tourists can know that Indonesia has many traditional foods.
Bambang admitted that currently BP Batam is not only focused on developing the industry, but also will develop tourism. Because natural destinations have tremendous potential, so it needs seriousness to build tourist destinations. That is why in 2018 many tourism programs have been prepared. “Batam is very extraordinary, with hopefully the Batam carnival can be global. So that not only foreign tourists but also many investors will come, “he explained.
The event that was held was nothing but a concrete form of BP Batam’s support on Batam’s anniversary. Then also as support in increasing foreign tourist visits to Batam.
This cultural festival will feature archipelago culture and carnival parades. The concept resembles a cultural festival in Jember, East Java. Not only filled by artists from the archipelago, but also abroad. The parade of the carnival shown includes the Sangsapurba Carnival, Sirih Tepak, Regalia or Cogan, Makyong, Jong, Seafood Paradise, and art parades from the archipelago.
Cultural festivals will also be enlivened by modern art, such as fire, fire dance, Brazilian dance, and belly dancing. Then the body painting contest, bartender competition, Batam Guitar Family, BBDC Bassline, BJS Big Band, Erio Hutomo, Yemercy, Beungeud, Batam Hip Hop, 3D Mapping, Road Root, and Orange Dusk.
The event will also feature famous traditional dances such as Ogoh-Ogoh from Bali, Mask Ireng Magelang, Tor-Tor North Sumatra, Ondel Ondel Betawi, Tempurung West Sumatra, Dayak, Bugis, Gending Sriwijaya, and Papua.
