The Role of GIPI Riau Islands DPD Building Maritime Tourism
Just October 12, 2018 ago GIPI Riau Islands DPD was confirmed by the Governor of Riau Islands, Nurdin Basirun, who advised to increase the potential of marine tourism in the Riau Islands. Maritime Deputy Chairwoman Surya Wijaya and Deputy Chair of MICE, IT and Markom, Edi Sutrisno, and Deputy Chair of Restaurant Cafes and Catering Services, Janry Sitohang, witnessed the potential of Lingga Regency marine tourism. Where on October 28, 2018 the “Wonderful Sail to Indonesia” event took place there which presented hundreds of Yachts.
Surya Wijaya revealed that the potential of Lingga Regency’s marine tourism is very powerful and needs to be supported by regional and central government. Pro-tourism policies are needed to increase foreign tourists to the Riau Islands, especially Lingga Regency. Edi Sutrisno as Deputy Chair of MICE, IT and Markom also plans to appeal to the travel agent industry to be able to support the potential of marine tourism by preparing and marketing tourism packages to Lingga Regency. GIPI Riau Islands Regional Representative Council together with regional government and the tourism ministry will collaborate to achieve this goal.
Not only the beauty of the tourist destinations of Lingga Regency, but the wealth of local culinary is also a special concern Janry Sihotang as vice chairman of the areas of Restaurants, Cafes and Catering. Initially Janry Sihotang will socialize dishes typical of Riau Islands to every culinary industry and hotel in the Riau Islands. The plan for the culinary industry and hotels is to provide one or two local Riau Islands menus in each of these industries.
The Ministry of Tourism cooperates with John Martin, the yacht rally organizer from New Zealand, organizes an international yacht rally titled Wonderful Sail to Indonesia 2018. The Wonderful Sail to Indonesia tour consists of 5 world screen rallies, Anambas To Natuna Wonderful Sail, Wonderful West Kalimantan Rally, Back To Down Under Rally, Wonderful Sail 2 Indonesia and Wonderful Sail Indonesia.
Wonderful Sail 2 Indonesia (WS2I) will take place from July to November 2018. Events that will be followed by 70 yachts from these five countries will stop at 21 landing point destinations throughout Indonesia.
Starting from New Zealand and entering Indonesia on July 25 through the Debut entry port in Southeast Maluku Regency and ending the cruise tour through the exit port of Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands Province on November 26, 2018.
Each stop point will be stopped for four days by the sailors. This cruise will stop at 20 points namely Tual, Banda, Buru Selatan, Pasar Wajo, Wakatobi, Buto Selatan, Bau Bau, Labuan Bajo, Badas, Madena, Buleleng, Bawean, Kumai, Belitung, South Bangka, Bangka Pusat, Penuba, Benan and Tanjung Pinang.
Meanwhile for other events, the Wonderful Sail Indonesia (WSI 2018) screen rally which was followed by 20 yachts will start from Darwin and Cairns, Australia, and enter Indonesia through an entry port in Kupang on August 1, 2018.
The entry and exit points are determined by regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Presidential Regulation Number 79/2011, amended by the Presidential Regulation No. 180/2014 and amended to become Presidential Regulation No. 105/2015 which provides ease of entry of foreign yacht tourist visits to Indonesia.
The hospitality of the Indonesian people with its various cultures is expected to create comfort for foreign investors. Security from yachter will also be the main task of the Republic of Indonesia Marine Security Agency (Bakamla). Given that Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country, screen tourism routes continue to be developed.
It is hoped that this event can make Indonesia the largest screen tourism destination in the world. “This is the longest, longest and largest event in the world with 53 points circling 7,000 km of water in one country from May to November only in Indonesia,” said Ramond T Lesmana, Team for Accelerating Screen Tourism and Cruise Ministry of Tourism.
